LINCOLN - Digital Image Lecture - Home of the Hummingbird

photograph

Thursday 14th September 2017
Hummingbirds have always fascinated me and my dream to one day photograph them finally came true in November 2013.
This lecture gives you not only some lovely images of these little jewels, but some fascinating facts about some of the smallest birds in the world.
For camera clubs, I'll go into more detail on how to get photographs of such a tricky subject.
Besides the Hummingbirds, Trinidad & Tobago has some wonderfully colourful bird life and also plays host to some of the birds we watch in disbelief on the TV documentaries, like the Bell Bird, Oilbirds and Manikins.
This lecture has plenty of great images from Honeycreepers at the famous Asa Wright Centre in Trinidad, to the majestic Tropic Birds of Little Tobago island. If you have been thinking of visiting, this talk may just make up your mind to book your trip.
The lecture also includes film with sound of some species, so a very entertaining show.

The talk is to be held at The Venue, Bishop Grosseteste University, Longdales Road, Lincoln LN1 3DY, on behalf of the Lincoln local RSPB Group.

Non members welcome, the talk starts at 7:30pm.

SOLIHULL AREA - Birds and Breakfast, Dawn Chorus Walk.

photograph

Saturday 28TH April 2018

Pardon the pun, but you need to be up with the lark for this one!!

The early start is made all worth while, because bird song at this time of year is at it's peak at first light, with all the members of the avian orchestra proclaiming their territories.

Broadacre is the location of the walk, a private house dating back to the 18 hundreds, with beautifully landscaped gardens, ponds, woodlands and meadows within it's acreage.

The owners manage the grounds as part home, part market garden, part nature reserve and have plans to make the property even more diverse in terms of wildlife habitat, with proceeds from this event going towards the work.

Broadacre does have a few open days each year and this will be our second dawn chorus here. Last year we recorded 30 species and had a great walk on a lovely Spring morning, so lets see if we can top that total.

We are limiting the numbers on the walk to 15 people to keep noise to a minimum, so enhancing your experience of the bird song. Ashley will help you identify all the birds we hear, giving you tips on how to remember who is who for future reference.

15 Spaces remaining

The price is £18 per person, which includes a hot drink and a bacon butty, or vegetarian alternative.

The event will start at 5.30am, wrapping up after breakfast at around 7.30am. Full location information will be provided by request.

For further details, or to book, please contact Ashley directly on 07704 189835, or by email birdergrove@gmail.com.

If you'd like to take a look at Broadacre, here is a link to their web page.
